About the Program

Please join us on Saturday, May 19,  for an overview of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, Step II.

The Myers-Briggs Type Indication (MBTI) Step I provides the basic building blocks for understand your psychological type. The MBTI Step II builds on the foundation of Step I by indicating facets of each function and attitude. The objective of this meeting program is to expand our ongoing discussion of functions and attitudes with facets of judging, perceiving, and attitude:

Participants can expect to gain an understanding of

• ·         The facets of judging and perceiving functions and altitude facets
• ·         The construction of the MBTI Step I & II instruments.

If you took the Step II instrument several years ago when I presented a similar topic, let me know if you need a copy of your results. If you wish to take the Step II instrument, send me an email request (jdb@juliand.com) and I will email you instructions. The cost of the report is $25.95 which is what CPP charges me for scoring the instrument and producing the report.

About the Speaker

Julian Brown is the principal consultant for Co-Creator Enterprises LLC.  He consults on project management, change management, and individual awareness enhancement.  He has studied Jungian psychology for the past 15 years with the Chicago Jung Institute and the Houston C. G. Jung Center.

For many years, the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator(r) has provided tools for understanding self and others through the dynamics of the 16 personality types. Today, the emerging field of neuroscience is validating Jung’s pioneering theory of the eight cognitive functions. Ongoing brain research supports Jung’s model and brain imaging literally paints a rich picture of diversity among individuals.

At the intersection of neuroscience and psychology, UCLA professor Dario Nardi has discovered that people of different psychological types don’t merely rely on different brain regions. They use their brains in fundamentally different ways.

Using colorful anecdotes, hands-on activities, and brain imagery, Dr. Nardi shares tips for healthy personality development across the 16 personality types.

Dario Nardi, PhD teaches social science and computing at the University of California (Los Angeles). He has worked with the 16 Myers-Briggs types since 1993 and is author and coauthor of numerous books including “8 Keys to Leadership”, “The 16 Personality Types: Descriptions for Self-Discovery”, “Quick Guide to 16 Types in Organizations”, and “Neuroscience of Personality: Brain Savvy Insights for All Types of People”. He created the apps “Personality Types” and “Love Therapy” for the Apple iPhone/iPad. Dario chaired the 2009 Dallas conference for Association of Psychological Type International and is a keynote conference speaker. He is founder and CEO of Radiance House, a publishing company (www.radiancehouse.com). Presently, he conducts experiments using EEG brain-mapping technology to better understand personality and offers a 3-day certification program for professionals to better include the brain in their work.

Do you understand the relationship between how you like to make decisions and the type of work you prefer? Our program this month is about understanding the middle two preferences of your Myers-Briggs four letter type and how they impact the work that is a good fit for you.

In this session you will learn:

-         how each of the functions (S,N,T,F) basically determine the type of work preferred,

-         how the functional pairs (ST, SF, NT, NF) translate into skills and competencies,

-         what the J and P preferences bring in terms of work,

-         what the E/I preference means,

-         what type development adds to work preferences.

If you’re a newbie to Type, we will offer the Majors PTI** to give you a starting point for finding your best fit, with Temperament and a bit of Jung’s psychological type theories thrown in for good measure, followed by interactive exercises to determine your Interaction Style.

If you’ve had questions about one of your scales, you might find some of these exercises helpful in clarifying the issue.

If you’re a practitioner and don’t use this process for helping clients determine their best fit type, you’ll enjoy watching this methodology in action.

About This Gathering

Recipient of the 2011 APTi Award for Innovation, Linda Berens, Ph.D. has always been on the leading edge of type. Now she takes us further into the possibilities of how our work with type can contribute to personal, organizational, and global transformation.

What does the world need from typology now? More applications? More growth? More evolutionary development? How can type users avoid the typology pitfalls that get in the way of transformational development and increased agility? How can they actively promote development and adaptability? Integral Type™ is a holographic approach to type that is integrative and growth promoting. Typology models such as Jung’s Psychological Types, Keirsey’s Temperament, Berens’ Interaction Styles can be used in a utilitarian way to influence, persuade and get others to change. Speaker Bio

Linda V. Berens, PhD, has worked with theories of personality type since 1975. She has been training change and growth professionals and helping individuals and teams recognize their strengths, transcend their weaknesses, and work together better since 1983. Author or coauthor of numerous books on personality, she is also the recipient of the 2011 Association for Psychological Type International Award for innovations in theory and applications of psychological type.

After founding Interstrength® Associates (formerly known as Temperament Research Institute), a corporate consulting and training organization, she has turned her attention to developing a more complete and integrated look at individual differences through Integral Typeworks, LLC. Linda is recognized internationally for her theoretical contributions to the field of psychological type and for developing user-friendly training materials for practical application of understanding individual differences.
